What are Bonds and why do people trade in it?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To put it in simple words, a bond is a kind of loan from an investor to a borrower such as a company or government. Companies issue bonds to raise money for a variety of purposes be it to grow their business, investing in materials and other corporate reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

In return, the company promises to return the money, also known as Principal on a specified date of maturity. By trading in bonds you receive a fixed coupon payment on the investment made, this is over and above the capital gains.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yield is a concept in bond investment that must be kept thoroughly in mind, it\u2019s the tool that is used to measure the returns of one bond against another. It helps you in making informed decisions. Yield is nothing but the return received on bond investments.<\/span><\/p>\n
