The month of November was a mixed bag for equities market while aided the rally in bond markets. Equities started the month with upbeat performance on the back of better than expected quarterly earnings for some corporates and setting up of a dedicated realty fund by government to bailout stalled housing projects. But markets were volatile, with the coming in of weaker domestic macroeconomic data points like rise in inflation, consistent contraction in manufacturing growth of core sectors and fall in GDP growth for the second quarter. In spite of these issues, Sensex gained 1.65% while Nifty grew 1.50% in the month of November. This was primarily on the back of higher FII flows into the markets post the US Fed rate cut. US-China trade deal continued to cast mixed cues on global equities market.<\/p>\n

Possibility of another rate cut by RBI strengthened as the GDP forecast for second quarter came out at 4.5%. Expectation of the rate cut led to increased purchase of gilts by market participants and FIIs leading to a rally in the debt market. The benchmark 10 year G-Sec witnessed 18 bps (100 bps= 1%) fall during the month. RBI continued with its liquidity operations during the month, ensuring the systemic liquidity remains in surplus mode.<\/p>\n

Banking and International funds outperformed other categories in the month of November. As we have stated repeatedly, staying invested in the markets would have resulted in higher gains for you.<\/p>\n
