{"id":5510,"date":"2025-06-20T14:36:43","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T14:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paytmmoney.com\/blog\/?p=5510"},"modified":"2025-06-20T14:36:43","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T14:36:43","slug":"how-we-made-add-funds-feel-like-magic-inside-the-orderpad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paytmmoney.com\/blog\/how-we-made-add-funds-feel-like-magic-inside-the-orderpad\/","title":{"rendered":"How We Made \u201cAdd Funds\u201d Feel Like Magic Inside the OrderPad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A PM \u00d7 Tech story<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A few months ago, during one of our weekly user journey reviews, something kept popping up:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhy does adding funds throw me off the OrderPad?\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cI lost my order after payment \u2014 had to start over.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cIt just&#8230; breaks the flow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a trader myself, I <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">felt<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that pain.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> So we dug deeper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hi, I\u2019m <\/span><b>Vinny Akkal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Product Manager II at Paytm Money, and this is a story about how small UX cracks \u2014 when fixed right \u2014 can lead to huge improvements in user trust.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\ud83d\udca1 The Problem<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our earlier journey, when a user didn\u2019t have enough balance to place an order, tapping <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAdd Funds\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would kick them out of the OrderPad into a full-screen payment flow.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Context was lost.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Conversion dropped.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> New users often gave up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It wasn\u2019t broken. But it wasn\u2019t seamless either.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\ud83d\udee0\ufe0f The Collaboration<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kranthi-koukuntla-387a45a6?utm_source=share&amp;utm_campaign=share_via&amp;utm_content=profile&amp;utm_medium=ios_app\"><b>Kranthi Kumar<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, our tech lead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In one of our brainstorms, I simply asked:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCan we keep the user <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the OrderPad while they pay?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kranthi didn\u2019t flinch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLet\u2019s build a mini-journey \u2014 embedded, lightweight, but tightly coupled with the main flow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that\u2019s exactly what we did.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The result? A <\/span><b>compact Add Funds module<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> embedded within the OrderPad \u2014 no redirection, no memory loss, just flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\ud83d\ude80 What Changed?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Payment now happens <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the OrderPad<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User sees their trade throughout<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post-payment, the order resumes <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">automatically<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UPI + Net Banking, handled natively<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It feels instant. Clean. Invisible, even.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\ud83e\uddea The Impact<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re already seeing reduced drop-offs and higher completion rates for trades requiring fund top-ups. But more than that, we\u2019re hearing things like:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFinally!
