Setback for Indian Pharma, 3 Open IPOs & Much More

By Khushi Agarwal September 26, 2025 3 min read

Commentary:

Indian benchmark indices fell on Friday after US President Donald Trump announced tariffs of up to 100% on branded and patented drug imports, starting October 1, 2025. IT stocks dropped for the sixth straight session, as Accenture’s results showed uneven demand. Strong US economic data also reduced hopes for big Fed rate cuts. Among broader markets, small- and mid-cap stocks fell more than large-caps. Sector-wise, IT, pharma, and metals each lost nearly 2%, while market volatility rose, with India VIX up 5%.
