(Compiled from RHP and market updates)
Industry Context
- The global water and wastewater treatment market grew from USD 880 billion in CY2024 to USD 934 billion in CY2025 and is projected to reach USD 1,240 billion by CY2030, supported by infrastructure investment and environmental regulations.
- India’s wastewater treatment industry generated revenue of ₹26,800 crore in FY2025, growing 7.2% year-on-year. It is estimated to reach ₹29,200 crore in FY2026, with a projected 9.3% CAGR until FY2031.
- Rapid urbanisation, population growth and industrial expansion are increasing wastewater generation across India. Industries such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and food processing require treatment solutions to address wastewater management and discharge compliance requirements.
- Water scarcity and declining groundwater levels are increasing the importance of wastewater recycling and reuse. Government initiatives, including AMRUT 2.0 and the National Framework for Safe Reuse of Treated Wastewater (2023), support the adoption of treatment infrastructure.
- Ageing sewerage networks, inadequate landfill leachate management and demand for decentralised treatment systems are creating additional requirements for wastewater solutions. Public-private partnerships and long-term operating contracts are also shaping project development and industry participation.
Business Strengths
- SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd. introduced C-Tech technology in India’s sequencing batch reactor (SBR) segment. As of July 31, 2026, it had commissioned 728 wastewater treatment installations, held over 80% market share in SBR technology and supported treatment capacity of 17,511.11 million litres per day.
- The company is expanding its in-house manufacturing capabilities for key components used in its C-Tech and OREX technologies. Its planned manufacturing unit is expected to support the production of solar sludge dryers, diffusers, hollow fibre membranes and other wastewater and solid waste treatment equipment.
- SFC Environmental Technologies has an established presence in municipal solid waste treatment through its proprietary OREX technology. Its two integrated facilities in Goa have an aggregate treatment capacity of up to 425 tonnes per day, supporting biogas generation, compost production and recyclable material recovery.
- The company has maintained recurring business relationships with several infrastructure and environmental services companies. Its experience across projects of varying capacities and locations, alongside its order book, provides a base for ongoing project execution and business development.
- The company attributes its financial performance to profitable growth, working capital management and efficient resource utilisation. Its management team combines experienced leadership, industry knowledge and complementary skills to develop business strategies and respond to changing market conditions.
Business Risks
- SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd. relies heavily on its wastewater and solid waste treatment businesses, which together contributed 87.40% of consolidated revenue in FY2024, 84.34% in FY2025 and 84.98% in FY2026. Technological changes or weaker demand in these segments could affect its performance.
- The company depends significantly on government-funded projects and tenders. Government entities or tenders accounted for over 92% of wastewater treatment segment revenue in FY2024 and FY2025, while the solid waste treatment segment reported 100% dependence across FY2024 to FY2026. Changes in policies or project allocations could affect revenue.
- The company faces compliance risks relating to international trade restrictions, economic sanctions, export controls and anti-bribery regulations. Non-compliance could result in financial penalties, restrictions on government contracts, reputational damage and disruption to business operations.
- SFC Environmental Technologies recorded revenue growth at a CAGR of 10.56% between FY2024 and FY2026. However, managing continued expansion could strain financial resources and operational capacity, potentially affecting service delivery and project execution.
- Certain historical corporate filings and records remain untraceable or contain discrepancies, while the company is also involved in legal proceedings. Adverse regulatory action or legal outcomes could result in penalties, additional liabilities and an impact on its financial position and cash flows.
