Commentary:
Indian benchmark indices ended flat amid mixed global cues, with sentiments subdued ahead of the RBI policy on Oct 1. India’s IIP rose 4% in Aug vs 3.5% in July, supported by mining, manufacturing, and power. Moody’s reaffirmed India’s Baa3 rating with a ‘stable outlook.’ Globally, the US Commerce Secretary urged India to open markets and avoid actions that hurt American interests, which keeps trade deal uncertainty intact. In the broader markets, midcaps outperformed small- and large-caps. PSU banks, energy, and realty led sectoral gains, while private banks and IT lagged. Market volatility eased slightly, with India VIX down 0.5%.
