SEBI Mandates Valid UPI Handle Blog

SEBI has introduced a new framework requiring all brokers and intermediaries in the securities market to use Valid UPI handles. This initiative strengthens investor protection and ensures that all UPI-based payments are routed securely to verified and identifiable entities.

At Paytm Money, we have fully implemented these guidelines. This means all customer UPI payments will now be accepted only through our SEBI-validated UPI handles, ensuring enhanced safety and transparency for your investment transactions.

What Are Valid UPI Handles?

Validated UPI handles are SEBI-approved UPI IDs that adhere to a strict verification format to ensure funds are transferred securely to registered intermediaries.

A validated UPI handle includes:

  • Intermediary category (e.g., brk for broker)
  • Paytm Money identifier (e.g., paytmmoney)
  • A validated bank suffix, such as @validptybl or @validicici

These components ensure the ID belongs to a SEBI-recognised intermediary and cannot be misused.

Example Valid UPI Handle format: xyz.brk@validbank

Your Payment Options Remain the Same

You can continue adding money through:

  • UPI
  • Netbanking
  • Bank Transfer (IMPS / NEFT / RTGS)

If you choose to pay via UPI, make sure you are transferring funds only to the new validated Paytm Money UPI handles listed below.
