How To File Complaints On SEBI’s SCORES Portal1 min read

If you have an issue related to a securities transaction, there is a way that you can file a complaint.

Market regulator SEBI has an online grievance redressal mechanism called SCORES, where you can file complaints against listed companies.

Through the online portal and mobile app, you can file a complaint with SEBI and track the status.

On January 5, the market regulator issued a circular encouraging investors to use this online grievance redressal mechanism.

The circular said “Investors are encouraged to lodge their complaints through online mechanisms more specifically through SCORES portal and SCORES mobile application for effective redressal of grievances.”

You can file complaints related to issues with transfer of securities and non-payment of dividends with listed companies.

This facility is particularly helpful in cases where an investor is not satisfied with a company’s response to their grievance.

How To File A Complaint?

You need to register on the SCORES portal before filing the complaint. While registering, it is mandatory to provide these details:

1. Name
2. Address
3. E-mail Address
4. PAN
5. Mobile Number

To raise your grievance, go to “Complaint Registration” under “Investor Corner” and follow the required steps. You can also attach a PDF document (up to 2MB ) as a supporting document.

In the FAQ section on the SCORES website, you can also check the kinds of complaints that are not accepted.

When filing the complaint, you will be asked if you’ve already raised the issue with the company.

If you respond with “No”, then the complaint will first go to the entity. The company then has 30 days to respond to the investor. If you answer “Yes”, then the complaint will go to SEBI directly.
