What are REITs and InvITs?
REITs, or Real Estate Investment Trusts, are companies that own or finance income-producing real estate across a range of property sectors. REITs historically have delivered competitive total returns, based on high, steady dividend income and long-term capital appreciation.
Their comparatively low correlation with other assets also makes them an excellent portfolio diversifier that can help reduce overall portfolio risk and increase returns. Although the overall volume of REITs traded on exchanges is low, people willing to have them in their portfolio can definitely take part in the secondary market.
InvITs, or Infrastructure Investment Trusts are investment instruments that work like mutual funds. Their units are listed on the stock exchanges and are a wholesome combination of both equity and debt instruments. When compared to REITs, the structure and operation of both are quite similar.
Both REITs and InvITs are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
How to invest in REITs and InvITs?
Follow these simple steps to access REITs and InvITs on our platform:
- Got to the Equity Dashboard
- Type “REIT” or “InvIT”, and all the relevant scrips will appear
- Click on a scrip and the chart will appear, along with two options: Buy or Sell
- In the company page, you will also have access to market depth, fundamentals and similar REITs
- You can also set alerts, SIP and GTT orders for your investments in these scrips
